Why the Change from July 18?

We continue to prioritize Indigenous participation at events throughout the Papal Visit. In conversations over the last number of days, many Indigenous partners have requested additional time to secure their reservations. In addition, recent federal funding announcements may allow new groups with a strong desire to participate in the visit of Pope Francis, an opportunity to mobilize.

The delay in releasing the final block of tickets will provide an additional window for Indigenous participation while also ensuring that all available inventory, including any seats not reserved by Indigenous or group partners, will be offered to the public on Friday, July 22, 2022.

For other papal events in Alberta, tickets have been made available to residential/day school survivors, Elders, Knowledge Keepers and those supporting them through National Indigenous Organizations, Catholic dioceses traveling with survivors and other partners. If you are a residential or day school survivor and do not have contact with an Indigenous partner, please refer to www.papalvisit.ca/tickets-access.

You are encouraged to arrive by 8:30 a.m.! Mass will start promptly at 10:15 a.m. Please allow extra time as there will be screening of all guests upon arrival. Because of exceptionally large crowds and heavy expected traffic, Ticketmaster is advising people to arrive by 9:15 a.m. latest to be early enough to get inside for the 10:15 a.m. Mass

UPDATE – The 2,000 free tickets for the outdoor access / mass at Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré for the general public were sold out in a few minutes. You can now register to experience it from the Plains of Abraham www.papalvisit.ca/plains/. The new batch of 10,000 free tickets for Mass at Commonwealth Stadium were sold out in 10 minutes. Access to Papal Mass at Commonwealth Stadium and outdoors at the National Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré

In anticipation of the visit of Pope Francis from July 24 to 29, as previously announced, 2,000 free tickets to attend Mass outside the Basilica at the National Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré and a new block of tickets for the Mass at Commonwealth Stadium will be available as of 12:30 p.m. ET / 10:30 a.m. MT through the following Ticketmaster links on Friday, July 22:

At the same time, it will be possible to register on www.papalvisit.ca/plains to experience the papal visit on the Plains of Abraham on July 27 and 28.

Holy Mass at the National Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré (Thursday July 28 10:00 a.m. ET)

Seating inside the Basilica is limited to 1,400 and is 70% reserved for Indigenous participants, including many survivors of residential schools and those supporting them. The remaining 30% of seats will be comprised of delegations from Eastern Canadian dioceses (which also include many Indigenous participants) as well as a limited number of representatives from various levels of government. The distribution of these seats is being co-ordinated with the relevant organizations.

To attend the Mass outside the Shrine (screens will project Mass from inside), 2,000 general admission spaces are available through a Ticketmaster link beginning Monday, July 11, at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time (LINK NOW AVAILABLE). Individuals may order up to 4 tickets for the Mass. Please note that in addition to the 2,000 outdoor tickets available today for the general public, 7,000 tickets outside are reserved for national and local Indigenous associations, distributed through their local channels.

Please note that there will be no parking available for cars. Information regarding the meeting point locations for the shuttle buses and the bus drop-off/pick-up will be provided in the coming days.

Experience the Papal Visit on the Plains of Abraham on July 27 and 28

For those who wish to experience the visit of Pope Francis on the Plains of Abraham, his arrival in Quebec City, the Holy Father’s speech at the Citadel (July 27) and Mass at the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré (July 28) will be broadcast on giant screens on the Plains. Cultural activities, to be announced shortly, will be offered around each event.

This site is open, everyone is welcome, no ticket is required. Those who plan to participate are invited to inform the organizers by registering at www.papalvisit.ca/plains. This will allow registrants to receive any relevant updates by e-mail. Please note registration for the Plains will open as of Monday, July 11, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

Reminder: Don‘t pay for tickets – they’re free!

Online resale sites are already offering tickets to the Papal Mass at Commonwealth Stadium. It is sad and disturbing that anyone is trying to resell free tickets to an event with Pope Francis as part of his pilgrimage of healing, reconciliation and hope. It is strongly recommended that you avoid any resale sites as the tickets may not be legitimate.
